Industry unit

Well I am working on my resolved piece for my industry unit. I have been looking at metals and rust and decay and particularly the pictures of Pixamanique on flickr. I have been using up my painted foil fabric paper. After the piece I did the other day called sliver, I have been playing around with painted cotton and embellishing felt through from the back. Today I embellished copper organza and angelina fibres through also. This really gives the feeling of a corroding piece of metal as you get the original colour and then the felt gives it texture and brings a deeper colour through. I have then used the automatic stitches on my machine to hold down the foil. I have been dodging the automatic stitches as they don't really excite me, but it is getting better now I have made a start.

Thanks for the link Carol, the pictures are stunning. I like what you have done and am interested that you have embellished into painted cotton, did you have trouble with broken needles?

Wow Carol - you are making very interesting use of your embellisher - looks very exciting indeed. Val

Automatic stitches can add to the piece and do to yours. They can be distorted too. Sandy

Brilliant. Great idea. Love the way the organza and angelina peek through from the back. Did the PVA make the foil stiff and harder to stitch through? I like the automatic stitch you have used. You know what I would be inclined to do? Stick the soldering iron tip through some of the holes to make them look like they had rusted away :)
Great link BTW. Where do you find these sort of things?

OK got a bit excited. Didn't mean to say holes - meant to say through the circles of machine stitching to make them into holes.
You knew what I meant didn't you :))
